Ingredients |
• Rice 1 cup ( Gobindobhog / Kamni Atop chal)
• Masoor Dal 1 cup ( Yellow Moog Dal /combination of moog& maoor dal can be used)
• Ghee (cooking oil) 2-3 tbsp.
• Cumin seeds 1 tsp
• Dry red chili 2 nos.
• Tez patta (Bay leaf) 2 nos.
• Cauliflower pieces 1 cup
• Carrot pieces 1 cup
• Green peas ½ cup
• Onion (chopped/ pieces) 1 cup ( when only moog dal is used , do not add onion)
• Ginger (grated) 1 tsp.
• Green chili (whole) 2-4 nos. (per taste)
• Turmeric powder ½ tsp.
• Salt to taste , ( sugar half spoon - optional) |

| Steps |
Soak the rice
and massor dal(separately) in water for at least one hour before you commence
cooking.
Heat ghee (or oil) in a pan/ pressure cooker. Add red chili,cumin seeds
,bay leaf, and ginger. Stir and fry. Add all the vegetables, onion and green
chili, and stir fry for some time. Add rice, masoor dal, salt, and turmeric
powder. Stir and when they are lightly fried add 4 cups of water.Add salt
& sugar according to taste. Place lid and pressure cook. keep till one
whistle and switch off the gas after the same. If you are using pan, you may
keep adding water as necessary.
Remove from heat when done.

Serve hot. While serving, garnish with 1 tsp. of butter. |
